Interlude II: Hero

Do you think there’s any real distinction between them?

Between who?

The part of the universe that calls himself Worm Man and the part of the universe that calls himself Zedaph.

Maybe. In the same way that the part of the universe that once was called energy from the sun, but eventually became Zedaph, is different from either or both of them.

They are the same matter,

The same heartbeat,

The same mind and soul and body,

But not in the dreams of some.

No. In some dreams, they are truly separate, two beings who were never one. Brothers, maybe. Friends, sometimes. Clones. Rivals.

In some dreams, they were once one, but then one dreamed that the other came into being.

What do you think they dream?

I think they dream they are the same. I think those around them dream they are separate. I think both can be true.

They do overlap, either way.

Yes. Worm Man’s heroism is also part of Zedaph.

And Zedaph’s fear is also part of Worm Man.

And Worm Man’s love is also part of Zedaph.

And Zedaph’s pain is also part of Worm Man.

That being said, they express it differently. Worm Man is a hero through shouting and fighting.

Zedaph is a hero through taking the bullet for those he loves.

But is that a heroic trait? Dying for those you love?

Only until choosing to live, being able to live, becomes harder.

I fear he will approach that threshold soon.

I know he will turn back. He will choose to live. He is a hero, as is Worm Man.

He is heroism.

He is hope.

He is love.

He is loved.

I can only hope he will remember that.

He will. They all will.
